Remember that thunder-storm of '05?

God, I remember that day as it were yesterday!
Man, that was really something!
Too bad that Detroit did not activate their sirens; it would have been fun if they did! Oh well, I guess there was no tornado watch or warning afterall... we did not need to go to the basement, even though we did.
Anyway, the first natural sign I got of a stormy front was when I walked home from school. I began to notice some clouds somewhat resemblant of squall lines.
And to add to that, the day was pretty hot and humid.
Anyway, as I got home, I told my mom that we might be under some turbulent weather. She did not believe me. It was still sunny at that time; but the clouds were still under development in Detroit, where they must have originated from anyway.
After I watched some television, I decided to go do homework. At that time the sky started to look kind of promising for some action. About ten minutes into my homework the wind picked up significantly. After about half an hour or so the sky started to darken to a shade one cannot think about; it was about five in the after-noon, and the sky had already appeared as night, around eight at night! There was no electrical activity in the storm, but mom did get worried. The winds were like crazy! Not even I could easily believe the conditions out there at the time! Rain was pounding like crazy out there! Eventually it started to thunder out there. My mom insisted we better go to the basement. And we did. But we had to unplug almost every A.C. device in our home.
By that time, the sky was a LITTLE lighter, but it was green.
Eventually we lost power all of a sudden. My sister started crying. Then we heard an extremely close strike; but I did not know where it hit.
We were out of power for close to an hour. It was not that fun anymore when power was restored. It was still storming pretty hard. After the storm started giving away, I went to the back yard, only to find the whole thing absolutely flooded! After the storm died, the sky still had a gray appearance.
So that was a pretty nasty storm, considering it released that much energy; and in a long two hours or so, too!!!
A couple hours after the former storm has ended, there I saw a lightning strike... another storm! Even though I did not predict that one, it sure was coming down hard on us! However, the storm lasted for about an hour. But, sadly, there was no power loss.
After that storm's worst passed, I took the video camera to see if I could catch some sweet lightning strikes. No such luck. I caught a few; but the only visible thing was the slight illumination they created against the clouds; so overall, a crappy video!
How do you remember the storm though?
I bet your conditions were not as cool as mine! Obviously because I was first to experience it!

Oh yeah! That was cool. The same thing happened to me. When there is a power outage it sucks when the power turns back on. But long power outages rock. When I was 4 there was a power outage and we were out of power for 2 days. Did you know that India there is so much sunlight that the power goes out 4 times a day?

Yes; the heat deforms the wires' metal structure at which it can carry current effectively.
B.T.W., yes, that thunderstorm was one of the most severe in years of Windsor's history.

No they just turn it off because India is a enviromentally friendly place so they turn off the power to save electricity.
