Some interesting siren websites.

Time to redo this thread.

Below are links to some interesting websites conserning outdoor warning sirens. These sites are all of the webmaster's interests, meaning that they were created to persue the passion of their creator.

http://www.airraidsirens.com Air Raid Sirens is the seemingly first site ever created on the internet for the siren fanatic. It is vast. It has a very concisely categorized section of bright photos. It has a nice collection of sound files and some interesting videos. Annother very appealing feature of the site is the siren museum. There you get to see various photos of many models from many manufacturers. In other words, there are many pictures of almost all the models from many manufacturers. This site also has an awesome tech section which, not only guides you trough the working processes of a siren, but also makes it easy at the same time. The website also has an awesome array of Adam Smith's (the site owner's) projects, shown to you in great explenation of each pic. Probably one of the most important features of this site would be the message board. It is the siren community's main message board with more then seven-hundred users. By the way, my username there is SirenMadness!

http://wisconsinsirens.com WisconsinSirens is run by Ben Hinrichs. It has a phenomenal ammount of carefully labeled pictures, almost each picture taken by Ben himself from his various siren hunts. The sound files are great and very clear. Ben has recorded some very exotic sirens such as the ACA Cyclone and ACA Banshee. He also has great videos in his arsenal. Ben also has restoration pictures, not his though. His site also features a very thorough FAQ section, not to mention some great literature files. He also has many important links as well. And he has a wonderfull message board, very uncompromising.

http://www.jmarcoz.com/sirens/sirenarchive.htm The Siren Archive is an archive of submitted photos, sounds and videos of outdoor warning sirens from around most of the world. It has many countries and under each country has many states or provinces, etc. The photos and other media files are extensive! Two-thousand-seven-hundred-three photos, twenty-four audio files and ten videos, and still counting! The siren archive is a great site for the one just willing to experience, or even re-experience the look or sound of a siren, or even see one in action!

http://doomsday.bookmarkhosting.com Doomsday Sound, hosted by Dylan Windom, is a site containing many of his fantasy siren creations. All of his siren creation pictures are done in autocad. His pictures are mind blowing. If you take a look at his pictures you will be wanting to go back and look at their fine detail some more! No doubt about that!

http://www.civildefensemuseum.com Civil Defense Museum is hosted by Eric Green. He is an expert when it comes to civil defense and wars. Not surprisingly, his site is, very much, based on that, with his pages on fallouts, various aparatuses. But hey, sirens were a big part in civil defense and still are. Don't worry, Eric has plenty about sirens: information pages, pictures of the Dallas and Forthworth area. Most of his pictures are labeled under Federal Signal sirens and ACA sirens. He also has an incredible collection of sound recordings. He even recorded the awesome ACA Hurricane, making this the only audio recording of one on the internet! Eric also has a very interesting set of restorations from his 2T22 to his Thunderbolt 1000 sirens. Truly amazing.

http://ares.homeip.net/~bwillcox/sirens/ Brent's Siren Gallery is loaded with heaps of very detailed pictures of sirens from across various areas of Texas. Not only are the pictures very pleasing, but are also accompanied by a humorous caption. This is a very fun site as well. Also I forgot to mention that he has his own little audio files.

Adit, you are a genius in terms of finding these sites. By the way, how did you know that the siren in the second site was a Model 5BT though? Very cool find, Adit. Also, that siren in the first night picture in the Los Angeles page is probably a Model 3.

I want on ARS today and found the sound of a model 5BT and listened to it. Then when I listened tthis sound clip it sounded very similar so I just guesses that it was the same type of siren.

That is a classic, Adit! I know the site already. Brent has some perfect siren pictures. But I have already mentioned that site above though.

Here is a very special site: http://www.longislandfirealarm.com. It has heaps of bits of siren media, from pictures, to sounds, to videos. There are two main archives: Suffolk county and Nassau county. It also has a very nicely laid out forum, P.S., my screen name there is 'SirenMadness.'

On the other hand, why not include siren manufacturers' websites as well?

Sentry Siren is the maker of some very tough and long-lasting sirens. Sentry Siren also makes the loudest omnidirectional siren in the world- the 40v2T. Sentry's sirens have a very rough tone to them; but I guess those are just very close-up sample recordings, or the test chamber focuses sound too well! Sentry would probably be the most diverse siren company you'd see because they have a large varieties of accessories, from different pole-mounts, to system-warmers! But probably their most weirdest thing they manufacture is custom sirens! Yes, they make custom housings, horns, and skirts. I don't know about the rotors and motors and other technical parts though. So, Sentry Siren is overall an interesting company, mainly because of their diversity and engineering strategies.

American Signal Corporation (ASC) had a beginer name of Biersach and Neidermeyer a long time ago, they soon switched to their first well-known name of Alerting Communicators of America (ACA). By that time, they were very popular in terms of their power and simplicity, in most sirens at least! However, now their current name is the name that is stated at the link. They still continue to make very effective sirens today such as the T-128, T-121, T-112, and their electronic range of sirens. It is, however, startling that ASC would continue with some of their old products when they were ACA. Both the Cyclone and T-135 are continuations of two of their old models: they still don't have battery backup. But ASC is my favorite company today; and probably will continue being it.

Federal Signal-warning-system sector. Federal Signal is one of the oldest signal companies, not in sirens; but in almost all signal types available today. However, I'm only going to show you their siren sector, as this is the main topic here. This page shows you just on how revolutionary Federal Signal can be. You can tell that most of their products are high-pitched. This adds to their efficiency. Also at the page, you have detailed info through pages and P.D.F. files. Overall a very interesting site.
